Can VL wheel hub brake drm side be over greased

Getting ready to grease my front and rear rebuilt wheel hubs and wheel bearings for first time. I assembled them with only heavy oil. If I put too much grease with grease gun in brake drum side, will it get grease in brake drum / brake shoe area or were will the excess grease come out? Thanks.

Hand grease or remove grease that escapes on brake side.
