  • headlight VL 1931

    Hello ,

I restore at the moment a VL from 1931 . The headlight is missing. The parts I have, are a round toolbox and a klaxon horn with the brackets.
Are there models from 1931 ,they have a John Brown headlihǵht with the round toolbox and klaxon horn ?
Or must I mount the triple clamp with the two lights ?

    thank you, haubi

The 1931 VL is first year for the John Brown Motolamp with the flat lens, first year for the oval toolbox, and first year for the Remy 16 horn. If you have an original export bike with a low serial number, then it's possible Harley used up left over 1930 parts as they sometimes did. But more likely is your parts have become mixed and matched over the years, or you have a 1930 bike with a replacement engine. Don't worry, you don't have to do anything unless you are putting the bike in for AMCA judging. They all go down the road the same, and the VL is an exhilarating bike to ride.
