VL sprocket problem

When I slide the sprocket on the drive gear it goes past the shoulder and hits the tranny case, I got this sprocket with the bike but I'm not sure if it is the right one. Anybody have any idea what the problem is? As I see it the sprocket should rest on the shoulder. Thanks in advance.

You're probably missing the spacer collar, and the dust shield, which hold the countershaft sprocket just off the case.
