1934 VLD exhaust finish ( Black )

On a '34 vld black exhaust should the finish be gloss , flat or semi gloss ? Thank you , Mike

Dear Mike, in 1935 Harley announced a new gloss black enamel finish for the exhaust, implying it was not gloss before that. However, Harley were lax about the use of the word word 'new' so it could have been introduced earlier. I don't deduct on shades of black on the exhaust finish, only for inappropriate chrome or nickel plating. Sperex gloss black enamel should be pretty safe.

Thank you Steve . I don't see where we can get that in the good old USA . Any one have any suggestions where I can get a rattel can of gloss black that will hold up ? Thank you , Mike

Dear Mike, Sperex is made by Simoniz so you should find it relatively easily.
