Has anyone used one of these, are they any good? Does anyone know the time frame they were produced by aftermarket? Thanks.

Dear Bob, they were used 1930/31 on the VL and I have two 1930 C model singles here which both have them, but not looking like your picture, as Harleys had duplex primary chains by then. If it's an aftermarket item it could have been around a lot longer. My guess is they were targeted at sidecar bikes but were not cheap, with all the rubber wedges inside and needing a special mounting nut. For the VLs, maybe half were sold for sidecar service in 1930, but after about 1932 the sporty side was emphasised and most of the bikes were being sold as solos.
