VL Tank Buffers

Does anyone know where the VL tank buffer rubbers go ?
Top frame rail? or the frame rail for the top motor mount ?
or .. one buffer on each rail ? Thanks in advance.

I usually put one on each frame rail but have not seen an original bike to be certain. It takes some juggling so the tanks meet without rattling yet you can still get the lower tank fixing screws installed.
