Since a 1931 VL does not use the earlier style tension spring with the #3 Mesinger saddle, I was wondering if it created any problems like sagging. Does anyone have experience with this tension spring-less saddle? Thank you.

Yes, Harley dispensed with the tension spring under the saddle for 1931-33. I found it was like sitting on a frying pan on my 1930 VL, and more comfortable on my '33s. You have an adjuster plate 3191-31 for 1931-33 to adjust the seat tension, and I have made some. -
