  • 1930 oiler cover question

I just got the correct oiler cover for my '30VL. I had been using a '33 oiler cover. When I got the '30 cover, I noticed a small hole about 1/8" and 'notch' on the front of it. I assume that the notch is where the timer cable goes through, but what is the small hole for? Was there a clamp that attached there? Then I looked at the '33 cover (still on my '30VL) and found that it too had the small hole, but doesn't have a notch for the cable to go through. Anyone have an idea about this?

Dear Jim, the sheet metal guy who makes my oiler covers says it is an indexing mark for cutting the slots in the oiler cover. It's on my original one- and two-screw oiler covers as well.

      Thanks Steve! That makes sense.
