  • 1936 VLH Oil Pump "spring, ball and check valve" question.

Today I had taken my oil pump off my '36 VLH. The Ball, spring and little plunger fell out (yes, I found them right away). On assembly I am thinking that the Ball drops in the hole on the oil pump, Then the spring, Then the plunger with the shaft of the plunger inside the spring so the wider "flat spot" sits against the engine. Isn't that the correct way to put it back together? Just double checking!!

Dear Jim, yes that's the way. I usually replace the ball and spring on principle, and lap in the ball seat with a ball soldered to a piece of copper tubing.
