Dear Manuel, the Eastern European repro dash handles are in aluminium but I am happy with brass. I have also seen early originals in die cast zinc. The part was used 1926-36 so we see running changes from Harley. The early parts have chequering on the handles and nickel plating, with the later ones plain and in chrome, with the switch around 1931/2. On the threads, it is 20 years since I measured the threads so could have been wrong, or Harley could have changed supplier. It is the original bikes which tell the story, not the writers of books, which is why the AMCA prizes unrestored bikes so highly. Nice find!

Dear Manuel, nice pictures. The nearest bike in the National Guard photo, M58101, has the highest registration number and the 1936 one-year horn brackets and fork shield, so the photo would not be earlier. Is that a British bike with girder forks also in the line-up? Note that M44891 and M51998 are now in the Alcazar Military Museum in Toledo. Those old Harleys last well.
