Cats eye lens the war years

Hey guys I have had health issues and have been absent for two weeks. But as always I need new (or old) information. Now for the late 44 thru 45 and partway thru 46 during the non chrome period what was the frames of the lenses coated with. We're they painted. Did they have enough left over from previous years to solve problem or did they do something totally different . Thanks

The lens frames were parkerized during those years.
