Folks,

I think I may have figured out how to get the front wheel off the ground with the rear-mounted jack:
Attach a sidecar, and shove contents to rear.

There's got to be a way.

You got me thinking about that now. Most of my friends would be willing to sit on the luggage rack while I change a tire.
Actually I'm thinking the balance point from the side stand to the jack lift location (under the swingarm pivot) may be pretty close when the front axel is removed. Who wants to try it first?

I was bidding on the $67.00 one but quit @ about $50. Those must of been the only 2 out there for now.

Well the NOS one brought $326, The used one $67, so there is a range for you!
As far as finding a listing on eBay goes, I think I might have put in Duo-Glide jack or something like that. The more specific you are you lose the generic stuff. Try to think of how someone might list one!!

They re-popped those things in the 70's, they where forked and bolted to the rear frame section back where the mufflers bolted. I've got one I carried for years in my Shovelhead. I'll dig it out and take a picture, I've used it along side the road to change a couple flats on the rear but never a front tire.

Rub and Bob, how did you find these jacks on ebay? All I can find are old auto jacks and sport bike stands.

The lower frame cross tube extends through the casting and out the right side and is drilled for the jack. All -58 frames had this, but I believe the jack it's self was an option.

Yea could be why they never caught on . I'll try to understand the whole statement before I spit out information. Did all 58s have the hole in frame

Thanks Rub, Thats the jack I was asking about last July, only I was calling it a Pan frame jack. Must be rare, I got no response on it.
I thought I had the upper part but mine looks nothing like the pic you sent. Looks more like an oversized valve guide driver with a hollow tube instead of a solid handle/driver.
Would you consider posting dimensions for the parts you have?

NOS jack. The hole is in a short tube extension on the right side of the frame behind the exhaust at the lower rear forging.

So, how do you raise just one, upon only one jack position?

Have someone sit on the other wheel?

The pivot point raises the rear easily, as it is to the rear.

What's the trick for the front?
