Generator Oil Slinger... necessary or not?

    Hi guys

    I have a '46U and a '42WL.

The question I can't find an answer to is just how important is the old style oil slinger part # 31071-37 to these engines?

If I run a later type 12v generator like this http://aaok.com/12-volt-generator-19...7-2-brush.html am I right in thinking I can bolt on the old type drive gear/oil slinger using the later oil deflector part # 31035-58?

Before I spend any money I really need to know if those old oil slingers are needed and what my options are.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

I've had no problem installing the slinger gear to the 12V armature.

      Thanks Larry.

Did you use the later oil deflector?

I use everything. Just change the gear.
