1937 Fork Ridged Leg Fender Tab Reinforcements

Anyone have documentation that shows when the reinforcements for the fender tabs were added to the ridged leg on the 1937 big twin forks.

Anyone have a 1937 big twin that has or doesn't have the reinforcement on the fender tab? What vin has what? Thanks Tim

I have seen a few restored U models around the 2000 VIN number that didnt have the reinforcements and I have also seen original 7000+ VIN number U models that have the wider rear fender brace like what most people would refer to as a 1938 fork.

And 30 years ago I saw an early 38 with the reinforcements - I only wish that I had looked it over a lot better. I have never seen any paperwork on them. I doubt if HD felt they needed to documenr any of this.

        Hi Matt.
I have not spent any time researching engine numbers of U models for 1937.
My attention has been on the correctness of the parts on my 37 EL.
I'm trying to access the correctness of the springer on my bike.
Is it fair to say that a U model with 7000 vin would put it near the end of production for that year?
Also, where did the late model 37 U have the grease fitting, inboard or out?

My original 37 with a 19XX serial # doesnt have the reinforcement on the tabs and the a #2 casting on the front fork.
