  • M-21 and M-31 Carburetor for 1934 Harley VL/VLD

The documentation I've reviewed seems to indicate that both M-21 and M-31 carburetors are valid for 1933 non-commercial models. Does this mean that both these carburetors are to be accepted for 1934 VL and VLD models?

That info is from after the Linkert superseded the Scheblers and the carburetor numbers were back dated. As far as we can see from original bikes the M21 was used on 1934 VLs and the M31 on 1935s. The important difference is No. 10 x 24 tpi screws for mounting the 1934 air intake, and No. 12 x 24 tpi screws for 1935, so the two are not interchangeable without altering original parts.

Do they share the same internal parts? Could you rebuild a M-21 carburetor from a M-31 if you had the M-21 core?
