  • Correct Parts for 1934 VLD Engine

My 1934 VL came with a basket case 1931 motor. I've since obtained a pair of 1934 VLD cases. I need to go through the parts and assemble what is needed to put together an engine. I'm not proficient on the differences in VL engines, casting numbers, etc. Where can I look to determine what pieces are correct for a 1934 engine?

Look in VL Heaven's manual, also the factory parts books for number comparison. '34 introduced a new engine for the V series and not much will interchange from your '31. The cylinders, cam cover, oil pump, pump cover, manifold, etc, etc, are all different for '34. You would be better off looking for a complete '34 engine for a donor.
