Got any '39 Harley color pics in Teak red with black panels I can see???

I'm thinking of changing the color on my '39WLD. I'm partial to red and black. Does any one have color photos of any '39 model Harley, in correct teak red with black panels colors and correct paint scheme you could share? I'd really like to see what those colors look like to help me make up my mind.

That's my 39 EL. I got to winners circle with it. You could custom order the frame, oil tank, tool box and fork painted the red color, and it would be CORRECT, just not common.

Notice the bike on the right side of this photo. Frame, fork, oil tank, toolbox all painted same color as tanks and fenders.

Silentgreyfello, that '39 is stunning. Just curious; was that top fender trim for '39 only, or was it available as an option. If so, for how long?

Very nice pictures! But before some one gets all excited about all that trim only the side fender trim and the top long strips are '39. The top strips were part of the deluxe group. The three shorter center strips are part of the '40 only deluxe group, and the fender tip part of the '42 deluxe group. Wouldn't want someone drilling their fenders full of holes needlessly!

Just as in the auto industry, deluxe versions of many vehicles were loaded with chrome and trim between about '39 and the beginning of WWII. Look at a pic of a '41 Caddillac or Packard. They are loaded with Chrome and trim. H-D and Indian both were following that trend up to the war.
Th '38 H-Ds had Top of Fender strips as a deluxe item. In '39 the side trim was added so the deluxe had both top and side. In '40 the long top strips were replaced by the three short ones front and rear with a chevron on the front fender. In '41 the strips were replaced with the new streamlined flat emblem, sometimes these days referred to as the "squashed bird". In '42 the "squashed bird was joined by the eagle fender tips, part of the new Patriotic look along with the shields on the saddlebags. Then Pearl Harbor and no more trim for the duration!

I know the top three fender strips (short) are incorrect and were in a kit offered in 1940 only, but I thought the fender tips were correct. I only base that on pictures of other bikes, but of course that only means someone else liked them as well. Any other comments about what is incorrect would be appreciated, not that I would change anything, but would be nice to know. Serial number is 39EL1032 if that makes any difference.

The fender tip part number is 3742-42 and was introduced for the '42 model Deluxe. It became on of the most popular accessories ever and was retrofitted to all sorts of years. The '47 acc. catalog features it prominently.
