Can you put a ride control on a '39 WLD???

I have a '39 WLD which was the last year the VL "I-beam" style springer was used. I've looked and looked and have not seen a photo of a VL style springer with a ride control in use. Can a ride control be used with the VL style springer? Has any one done it?

The 1939 WL had a one year only fork. I beam rear leg with the front leg coming from the Big Twin type of springer. Yes they did come both both ride control and steering dampener. Both are 1939 only items.

page 543 in Palmers how to restore has '39 WLD with ride control, trikes did not have them because it interfered with tow bar. '39 45" had different mounts than earlier 45s -look at parts book '30-'40

I have a NOS set for sale but they are in swap tubs , might be tough to find ---Roger

They came with both. Note that the 1939 WL is a one year only fork. I beam rear leg with Knucklehead type front leg. Both controls are also one year only.

Is this ride control different from the ones I see on knucks and '40 and up 45's? It looks shorter and I don't see or understand how it's mounted. Can some one explain it to me? I really want to put one on my '39 to make it more rideable Any one else have any different photos of a "39WLD or VL with one?

              Yes, it is.

Look closer, the upper brackets resemble VL types!
As was stated before, it is unique to '39. VL/RL type upper brackets with lower mounts like '40 and later. Try to find pics of '39s, not others!

The arm for the steering dampener is 1939 W models only. Most of the ride control parts are also '39 W only.

Hi Roger...Do you have all the peices as shown in the pic here in this thread? If you do have them, how much would you need for them? I'd like the whole kit+kaboodle, but I need at least the upper brackets and sideplates as these are shorter than big twin plates.
