  • 1936 Harley VD In The Garage!

I stumbled onto this 36 VD a few weeks ago. It runs great and I have been having fun taking friends for rides. It hasn't seen much use in the last few years, and it is benefiting from some regular use.

It is wearing an old restoration that is not that accurate, but is very complete. The sidecar is missing the stainless strips and fender light. The bike itself is quite correct, from what I have been able to determine. It does have 1935 barrels, and according to Steve Slocombe has the very rare prototype aluminum heads.

Beautiful machine! is the VD a 45 cu inch? or larger like the VL"s? I know novice question, but I lean towards Indian's :-) Really like the machine though.

The VD has lower compression than the VL. It was usually sold as a sidecar unit as a VDS. The "S" was not stamped in the serial number. Nice bike.
