Harley DL '31 Generator Bevel gear problems

Goodday everyone,

I have a question regarding the Bevel gear (generator drive)of the DL "threecylindermodels"

Did anyone have problems with these drives?, and has anyone find the real cause of breaking gears shafts running out,.. etc?

I would very much like to know all information regarding this weakness of the model 29~31 DL

there were problems from the beginning.thats why they made three different ones in three years--look at parts book--Johnny Sells--Vintage Motorcycle Works--has very good book on DL-RL-I have a '31 gen gear w/bushings for sale

Thanks for your reply, the parts are not the problem they are available in modified quality, but i am wondering if someone tackeled the problem and in other words can it be fixed so that it will hold for 20.000miles +
