By Craig Taylor, President, Los Angeles Chapter AMCA
The Los Angeles Chapter of the AMCA recently participated in Rip's B.A.D. Ride; a motorcycle charity ride to help in the fight of Diabetes. The Chapter had a fun filled day at event, as the organizers gave us a large central spot on the grass to display the bikes and set up a Chapter tent with Banner Flying. We had six antique bikes out front, Joe & Maria Morales brought their beautifully restored 1938 Harley Knucklehead. Marc Gallin & his wife Patty had their two Indians, a 1928 Indian 101 Scout and a 1950 Chief Roadmaster, both looking top notch. I brought out my 1925 Harley JDH cut down and two of George Hood's Harley JD's; Old Coot a 1928 JDH desert racer and Geezer Rider, his 1921 JD Chopper with extended forks and Captain America spoof paint job. The modern bike crowd really enjoyed our display of bikes, and there were people milling around our booth all day. We answered questions about the machines and handed out brochures on the National AMCA and our local Los Angeles Chapter. Marc Gallin entered his 101 Scout in the bike show and came away with a trophy for "Best Vintage Class" motorcycle. It was a nice relaxing day listing to the bands and checking out the modern machines and promoting the AMCA. Plus, our Chapter raised almost $500 in donations, to help find a cure for Diabetes.
