  • Cherokee/ Confederate Chapters Road Run in Texas

Sponsored by the Cherokee and Confederate Chapters of the AMCA... hosted by Carson Classic Motors...........

As with any road trip, I could not wait any longer to be out there. I was packed and ready to roll Wednesday morning, but unfortunately had to work until 5:00. Big Orange kicked to life about 6:00 and away we went. 40 miles of 2-lane back roads to get to I-10, but once on the interstate, the miles began to tic away.

shuvling down the highway to a full moon..

I rode until fatigued, midnight-ish. Instead of getting a motel room (I was way too excited to sleep that long) I started looking for a 'camping' spot. Once again the MOCO provided a nice 'camp' spot F.O.C. (free of charge). Pulled around back, shut 'O down, threw my bag on the picnic table, rolled up in it and went to sleep. I've always said there is something about sleeping 'on the ground', there's something about sitting in the saddle. Life in the open. Ride it there.

Thursday morning at dawn and I’m ready to start today’s adventure. Back out on I-10... as the road and time rolled on, Big Orange loped effortlessly down the super slab and before you knew it I had arrived.... almost.

What a weekend it was...... too much typing to talk about it.... I’ll let the porn do the talking.

Nice photos Liz, thanks a bunch for sharing! The P-bucket ones are great-they changed their rules too many times for me to keep up. It was so cool to meet Liz & The Big O in person, lovely lady with more guts than me!

Thank you Richie! It was the koolest how we ran into each other at the run. Helping unload your bike and not 'knowing' who you were. And then hanging out under the pavilion.... ding, ding, ding..... I KNOW YOU!!! Couldn't 've been better if we scripted it.

Hmm that came up kinda weird. I'll try another photo or three. You didn't mention the RAIN . . . Also, my damn GPS took me through Houston. At rush hour.

It did rain. However, I thought we were rather lucky in that it didn't rain during the 2 evening banquets... held outdoors. A few people got wet during the daytime ride but for the most part it really didn't ruin anybody's weekend.

GPS's.... don't have one. I still use the 'analog' kind.

I like the angle on this photo of Big Orange....the way the tank sort of drapes over the shovelhead. You don't see this angle ever...nice photo!
