Sidecar Light

I am looking for photos, drawings, detailed description, etc of the light pictured below. I have one of the lights that I am going to mount and it is missing the switch. I do have the large flat notched washer that goes under the cowl but that is it. This light is pictured in the 1929, 30, and 32 accessories catalog.

Bob, where was the switch. on the light or external? I have to assume that the terminal plates were mounted under the fender with insulating washers? Bob L

This light was mounted on the cowl of an original 1931LT car I recently acquired. I have been told there was a switch that mounted on the inside of the car that was part of the hollow threaded post that the wire from the bulb fed thru. It is some sort of washer with two ears that when turned, it eliminated the ground to the body and the light went out. Looking at the pic in the catalog you can see the ears. Mine does have a thick washer and fiber washer that was on top of the cowl and a large flat washer under the cowl with lock washer and nut. This large washer has a notch cut into it, that if you imagine a clock, the edge between 12 and 2 is cut out just along the circumference. There is only one wire that goes up thru the threaded post to a spring terminal for the bulb.

Bob, I have drawings and "notes" that I made of the switch from my light. Well, I don't actually have the light, but I have the "base" for the original light which has the switch. I'll email you.

Of course it may not have been obvious, but I was just kidding about prices. ;^) I have found several "original" things from Harbor Vintage that I have bought in the past... and it seems that when you need something, and cannot find it, the price is almost not important. (key word: ALMOST) I don't begrudge HV or anyone else to charge whatever they want, as I have my own stuff on Ebay and I am shocked at what people will spend on my "junk"! LOL!

I also realize how HARD it is to find one of those light switches, or parts of switches or mostly the light itself for a sidecar.
