  • One-Offs and Ideas of Yesteryear

I figured I'd start a thread that would hopefully dig up a few thoughts on early one-offs. Here's a couple of articles from the Nov. 2, 1911 issue of Motorcycling. There were certainly a few wild ideas!!! The last one would be a hoot to see and I'm guessing it would be awfully quiet...

The scan didn't capture the end of the letter so here it is .... " Closing the circuit forces the magnet to draw on the iron block, which in turn pulls the machine forward. Think this over.

I think it would be awfully quiet because it would not be moving!

I was waiting for that!!! I bet you'd get some speed up going downhill though!!! Provided you had some sturdy "pushers" to help you up the incline!!!

I think he had the start of a good idea, just turn the magnet around, and let other vehicles pull you
