1912 H-D Fuel Tank - Interior Rust Removal

I am seeking suggestions for methods to remove surface rust from the interior of a 1912 H-D fuel tank. Upon draining the fuel for the winter last week, I noticed a lot of rust particles in the fuel that I removed. The fuel screen was also full of the rust particles. A look inside the tank shows rust particle build up on the interior. The bike is original and has not been restored. It ran fine over the summer months despite the rust particles. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would go ahead and seal the tank. POR15 makes a great product and I just recently did mine with great results.

I use the POR15 as well. Prior to that, I dump a bunch of steel ball bearings in the tank and shake them around to knock any loose junk off. Then dump the bearings out or use a magnet to get them out. Then use the POR15 process. BTW, use small ball bearings... they won't dent your tank. 1/4 or smaller. Dump in a handfull, or more.
