  • 1911 Kokomo

Does anyone have any information or know of any survivors of a 1911 Kokomo? There were about 300 built in Kokomo, Indiana for one year. The one example I know of is owned by a Bike shop in Kokomo. The engine was a 3.5 HP single of their own design.

There was a Kokomo for sale in Holland a while back on a motorcycle sales website know as Yesterdays as I recall. In 1912 Mr Shaw at Galesburg, Kansas, bought out the Kokomo and moved the assets to Kansas. The name was changed to Shaw but production there was also limited to a few hundred. The Moodys of Moody Cycle at Kokomo are the real experts on this subject.

      1911 Kokomo

Thanks for your reply, John. I stopped in at Moody's when I was in town last month. They mentioned the Shaw sale and I've seen their fine example. It's been on display at the Heritage Museum in Kokomo, IN which is worth a visit for those who may be in the area. I asked if they were AMCA members, and they are not so I thought I'd do a little inquiring on their behalf. I was hoping to learn of other survivors- you'd think another ones in someone's barn in central Indiana.

Looks like this Kokomo/Shaw is headed back to Kansas. Has been purchased by AMCA member Steve Gordon of Wichita.
