    First Motorcycles.....

After Bill from Oregon so kindly posted the link to the U.S. patent site, I've spent a little time here and there perusing it. I recall a thread some time back that discussed the "first" motorcycles. From a patent point of view it looks like Pennington, Keating and Holley show up first. I'm sure with more indepth research other makes will appear possibly in between. Check out this one though......... I've always been under the impression that Indian coined the "Motocycle" term......... looks like possibly not........

Check out this elaborate unit... http://www.google.com/patents?id=4wF...icycle&f=false I see it took five years to be approved. I'm wondering how this factors into "firsts"?

            Early Motorcycles

            Hey Cory,
I noticed you mentioned "Keating". If ever in your research you come across "Keating Motorcycle" information-I'd be interested!! I've been researching for many years and would greatly appreciate a sales brochure or something showing colors!
Heres' a link to my outdated website, which shows the only know example of a "Keating"
            Enjoy-Thanks, BPK!!!

Brian, I've clicked on your Keating link a few times over the years and it's always left me to wonder. If you do a patent search, Keating shows up quite a bit. I'm sure your aware of this one..... http://www.google.com/patents?id=1bR...eating&f=false If I ever run across anything else I'll be sure to let you know!!!
