I've looked at this ad before and I guess I didn't pay good enough attention. Are early Cosmo mags another place to look for evidence? Or is this a different magazine from what is on the newstands today?

I've looked at ads in old Cosmo issues. I think it is actually the same mag, but back then it was more of a general interest mag like McClure's, etc.

H-D, Indian, and other early mfgs took ads out in a lot of mainstreams mags they wouldn't attempt today as the motorcycle was still vying with the horseless carriage as a mainstread mode of transportation.

Absolutely worth looking. In the teens H-D once had an ad for dealers showing all the mags they put ads into. The number and variety was amazing!
