schebler deluxe carbs 001.jpg I have an original 1925 edition of the Schebler service manual. It has the above information plus this schebler deluxe carbs 001.jpg page for the Deluxe carbs.

      That's astounding literature, Joe!

      Its going to take me a while to digest it;

The '16 looks a little strange right in the middle, and I don't know what I'm looking at...

      xl cr.jpg

I would guess that is some sort of support held by the bowl nut?

Here is the later flanged manifold, showing nuts and bizarre ferrules:

      18XMANI.jpg
(The top was said to be for a '15, and the other an '18.)

        I'm speechless, Joe.

Just scratching the surface, the H parts picture page shows the far more common lift lever, and its roller and pin separately as well.

The common reprint shows only the later Micarta-finger lift lever. The quality of your original print, which I presume lithographed, is breathtaking.

        But I'm into this stuff.
Nonetheless, Joe, you have shared a rare and rich Historical treasure.

No problem Cotten, glad it’s of use.

I’ve been doing some more Google research and am convinced, contrary to what the parts list says, that this carb is for an Excelsior. Here’s what I’m going by, a picture of the manifold on different 1915 Excelsior’s and the carb I have in approximately the same orientation…

          And this one

            And this too

So I think it might be a typo and the HX-105 for the Excelsior twin 1915-16 should be 1 3/16-20 RH thread, not LH, cause that’s what the evidence points to.

              The fossil record rules, Joe!

I still want to know what that is on the bottom,

Interesting! That certainly looks like an Excelsior manifold, other than the thread, which was LH for X. I see in your listing there are numerous carbs with this thread besides the Emblem, so how can you assume it is Emblem? And I stand corrected, X used the screw on carb with that style manifold 15 and 16, 3 bolt flange came in 17.

                  Just for Posterity, Folks,..

Here's two earlier manifolds, noticeably different in casting, and arcane nut assemblies:

                    Gharper,

                    16F40ECB-D819-4132-BB72-D6F98F1BCB3A.png

On the 4 pages of the equipment list there are only 3 carbs listed with 1 3/16-20 thread, two of them LH, the HX-11 for the 1913-1914 Excelsior single and the HX-105 for the 1915-1916 Excelsior twin, and one is RH, the HX-74 for the 1913-1916 Emblem single and twin. But the manifold is definitely Excelsior. The Emblem manifold is much larger…

So that’s where the mystery lies….

I've had 3 of those Schebler\Excelsior manifold combinations and I agree with Gene; it's '15-'17 Excelsior. I have one Ex/Scheb body left and it's only 'birth mark' is a crooked "11" stamped on the top of the pregnant side. Otherwise, identical to Joe's Schebler.

Sorry to hijack a bit but I have a DLX 100 carb. I think it is for a 32? Chief? I don't need it so if anyone does let me know. It is complete except for the throttle shaft and lever if I remember and in very good condition.
