1904 merkel motor cycle - railway inspection

This article is from the June 1, 1904, issue of the "Cycle and Automobile Trade Journal". The Kalamazoo Railway Supply Co. of Kalamazoo, Michigan, attached a Merkel motor on a "railway velocipede" to serve as a light railway inspection car.

Great stuff Les!!! Can you imagine the transition from pedal only to coasting along letting the ol' Merkel work? I bet there were some grins on the faces of the fellas who had to do the inspecting!
