Zundapp Timing

On a 125cc Zundapp the manual makes it sound as if points adjustment and timing can be set with the pole plate in place. I don’t see properly accessing the points with it installed. Any insight?

Unless there are slots and at least one in the appropriate place it may not happen.

Just a follow up. I pulled the pole plate and as I suspected the points lobe is on it and not the crank shaft. It does have windows in it but they don’t correspond to the lobe to set the points. I believe I can guess the gap with it off, put it back on and there might be enough exposed to get a feeler gauge in to check it. If the window would have been at the lobe high spot the job would be much easier.
