  • BMW /2 Fork Lock Replacement

I need to remove and replace the fork lock from my 1966 R60/2. No, I don't have the key to the existing lock. There are two different approaches I've found. Vech recommends picking the springs out from the top of the lock after removing the retaining plate. Duane Ausherman details how to drill into the lock and remove the head of the retaining screw. Wondering if anybody has tried either/both of these approaches, and whether either has worked for you.

    Thanks

Have you thought about hiring a locksmith? He or she can open the lock and make a new key for you. Probably the cost would be about the same as replacing the lock.

Thanks, Blacknight 55. That looks like the brute force approach, but it works!
