The preload on the pressure plate springs is adjustable on this model. Problem is there is a fine line between an easy pulling lever and a slipping clutch. To expand on the crumudgeon's reply. A properly lubricated cable can make a world of difference.

Check your clutch lever. If there is a repro lever on your bike, it more than likely has the hole placement wrong. I bought a repro lever for my Bonny and when I installed it the clutch pull increased significantly. I thought I did something wrong. Then I compared them and noticed that the spacing between the pivot hole and the cable hole were different. I did a quick calc and the difference resulted in a 20% increase in clutch pull. That's a lot!!
Not sure if different Triumphs had different hole placements over the years. If you have the wrong OEM lever for your bike the same problem could exist.Regards,

Beware also of clutch levers from 1950's BSAs as these also had the cable holes closer to the pivot. BSA in those years used unique controls, the mounts of which wrapped around the handlebar and clamped with a single pinch-bolt. Although the levers will interchange with those used on Triumphs, the leveralge is not the same and the clutch will be harder to disengage.
