I'm sure the re-introduction of the Crocker will lead to many heated debates. I know Crockers are right there with Cyclones, Vincents, and Broughs to the discriminating millionaires, but I've never understood it. You can judge any of those marques for looks, performance, or workmanship against Harleys and Indians and find the later to be equal or superior. Of course that's a very subjective statement but when collectors elevated the motorcycle to "art" and investors looked at motorcycles as investments; the playing field changed. Don't get me wrong, I think the Crocker is a good looking motorcycle; but it (and the other big money bikes I mentioned) were never at the top of my list of great looking, or significant motorcycles. . . . Just an opinion.

          Eric,

I agree with the bulk of your reply. Having said that, I read an article on the Crocker as a young lad and it left a permanent imprint. There is a lot of hype surrounding them for sure and probably more fiction than truth but when I see a bike like Dave Minervas', I can't think of a machine I'd want more for a "rider". That's purely a pipe dream but those are the kind of thoughts that float around in my noggin'..... This new machine has a couple of modifications that seperate it from the real deal but it looks like it's done well enough that it could fool someone that hasn't completed their homework. I couldn't even think about purchasing one of those either but the story behind it is interesting and the fact that the real plans were used and an old time pattern maker brought it to a reality kind of makes me think it's a little bit above the "other" recreations we have seen in the past. It could however end up muddying the waters in years to come.

Tom, that's an interesting comment. I guess time will tell....
