  • Messinger tandem pictures attempt

I hope this works. Thank You guys for the info and illustrations. Was this just a Harley Acessory or would it work on Henderson or Indian? The saddle is a full pan Messinger #2.

Harley hooked on differently. That's aftermarket, or some other brand.

I don't know if any of you have ever ridden with an adult perched on one of those but take it from me it's a challenging ride.
Most of the weight ends up behind the rear axle and the heavier the passenger, the more interesting the ride becomes.
I'm with Chris, it looks like a Messinger Standard to fit a Harley.
It's a shame this subject has got split up

I believe these things are fairly generic and could be fit to HD/Ind/Hen with different clamps/brackets. I recently picked up a Persons unit that will fit on my '28 with a couple of different clamps for the frame tubes. I'll try to post some pics. My buddy had one of these Messingers on a '30 Chief. Tommo is right. When his wife road on it, it really had a negative effect on the center of gravity of the machine and it was very difficult and uncomfortable for her to keep her feet on the pegs with the hardtail. I'm sure the Persons won't be any better but my Better Half is an excercise freak so she might enjoy the workout.

Can't attach a Photobucket "[IMG]" here the easy way anymore?
Anyway, an old Earlyriders reproduced image, p.180. Looks like a DL or RL 45.
            She looks comfortable!

Thanks guys. If anyone has pictures of one on an Indian, I'd love to see them. I'm hoping to fit this onto my 29 Indian 4.

Back in the 19-teens and 20's, several companies made tandem seat setups such as A-K, H.W. Weed, Stoll, and F-N. I am quite sure that those companies supplied manufacturers other than Harley-Davidson---

Sad to tell you that is a Harley-Davidson unit. click the link on my above post to see it in their catalogue.

I realise that Chris' reply was not directed to me but there were companies out there that made the tandem frames for many different motorcycle companies. You have the seat now find a frame that works. BTW, all those companies I listed had their tandem seats in the early H-D acc. Catalogs---
