Dave...... cool find! I'd say those bikes are likely worth more than the asking price. I'm no Simplex expert by any means but I'd be draggin' them home for $700... This is all I could find on e-bay as a reference. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Simpl...=p4506.c0.m245 It's definitely not original but it's reflective of the kind of prices I've seen for finished bikes.
Here's a couple more sites to look at ..... http://www.motorbase.com/auctionlot/by-id/1443627711/

Dave,
I have a 1948 simplex that is pretty much complete that I picked up about 20 years ago, there was a guy in FLA. that had tons of parts for them but I could never get ahold of him by phone,he has a site and I never got a responce back from him via e-mail either mine needs rims to start but was sitting in a barn since 49 or 50 it had a 49 plate on it when I brought it home.
I have seen a couple of rolling chassis go for $400 and $600 each with good fenders tires holding air and good rims one had the head and tail lights both had handle bars that may give you an idea depending on what you are intending to do with them.
you are in SE mich? I am heading up to Honor Mi for a 50th anniversary it's a little west of Traverse city MiChuck

The late John Bowman Jr., Board member and active AMCA club member for several decades, told me that the Simplex was the only "successful " American made paratrooping motorcycle. The Cushman version would bend and break the frame on the landing, but there was just enough suspension in the Simplex to absorb the shock of landing by parachute. Evidently they didn't use a protective outer case like the British used for their Wellbikes.William McClean
