  • Schebler pronunciation

I was watching the latest Jay Leno Garage post on YouTube which featured the magnificent recreation of the 8 cylinder Curtis that Dale Stoner miraculously machined, cast, and pulled together. So, when they talked about the carburetors, Jay pronounced Schebler as, "SCH-LEE-bler, and Dale pronounced it as, "Sch-E-bler. I have always heard it pronounced as "Sch-EH-bler" with a short vowel E. Okay, Okay, I'm nit picking, but I like to know how words are genuinely pronounced so I don't make a bigger ass of myself. . . Curious what other members think.

    I, too, lose sleep, Eric,..

    Over whether my "bushing grinder"

...is pronounced the Midwestern 'Sun-nun', or "Soon-nen"

    Merry Christmas everyone!

Sch-EH-bler and Sun-nun where I live. But I have been surprised to hear different pronunciations of some car names in different areas. The most obvious seems to be Willys - Willis or Willies?

I heard a New England customer call them Shee-blahs,

But since I'm south of Chicaga I just call them Chibblurrs.

I'm from CT with a NY upbringing, and I say them as Shee-blur.

            It's also a Sun-in hone.

When I called the Sunnen tech line many many years ago, Joe,

              The rep called it "Tsue-nen".

              That's why I asked.

I assume the C is silent and pronounce it Sheb-ler.
