  • Unknown Seat

I bought a pile of seats at the Ed Miller auction in the St. Louis area in 1991. I have no idea what this seat is for? Ed owned E&M Motorcycles and started Midwest Motorcycle Supply in 1971. He and his brother traveled the Midwest in the late '50's and '60's and bought out old Harley dealers that were shutting down.

Looks like an English Lycett saddle frame to me
Late 1930,s to very early 1950,s and fitted to many makes of motorcycles

That is a 1948 only H-D 125 seat frame. As Tommo suggested it was based on an English type. Supposedly H-D used up the WLC tandems for them.

Thanks Tommo and Rubone! I'm digging parts out of my rafters and found this. Thanks

That canvas section in that seat reminds me of a Terry saddle, weren’t Lycette saddles all springs under the leather cover? I have an original Indian 648 racing saddle made by Terry and it has that canvas construction…

The one with the torn up canvas is a flea market find. The one with the original Indian cover is on my racer

Both seats I found at Wauseon (20 years apart).

NOS Lycette waiting patiently for the '50 Thunderbird to come back to life...another Lycette frame sitting on the '58 TR6B Trophy in the background. And yes, full length springs.

It sold for $77.00 on Ebay. I start all of my auctions at 99 cents. I'm glad that someone could use it. Thanks for the help Identifying it!

FLFD7 - how did you mount that seat on your racer? Can you post a pic of the spring mounts and front? Thx!
