  • Sidecar fender mouldings

Looking for information on 1940-42 sidecar fender mouldings, the Greer mouldings available do not match the rear fender mouldings on the bike. Bike mouldings are slightly rounded oval, Greers mouldings are square rectangular . Thanks , any info is helpful, Bill in California

I had to make the fender trim for my 1940 Chief, and the same profile top trim for my ''40, and a '41 Sport Scout. There was a fellow in Scotland making it but no longer. I would imagine there have been sources over the years, but I can't think of anyone currently making it. It is 5/32" radius (5/16" wide) half round aluminum. I had to make a number of fixtures to cut 5/16" ally tubing down, and then additional fixtures to form the cut tubing into a "D" shape with a gap for "T" nuts. Following the cutting and shaping is forming the straight lengths to match the fender and skirt line. I had to make a template for my '40 because the fenders were painted. If your fenders aren't painted, that is the best template. The aluminum bends very easily but don't over bend as it is very difficult to correct the shape. I know this is just a teaser of a post and just breezes over the gruesome details but that Indian trim can be made. Unfortunately, not by me because I'm never doing that again
