  • Unrestored paint Quality?

Hello Riders, I've got a question about the condition and amount of original paint is allowed for and unrestored M/C. Example:#1 Left Tank has paint missing down to bare metal in a 3x5 area in the fuel spill zone, the rest of the tanks are normal wear. #2 The rear fender has directly on top bare metal in a 4x7 area under the luggage rack and foward behind oil tank in the battery zone there are bare spots.(I know thats not a good area to keep it bare) The rest of the paint on fender and braces is normal. Front fender just a little spot of bare metal. At what point is the M/C paint considered beyond wear and should be restored as stated in the judging handbook? Overall bare metal about 10% maybe... Thank you for any responses, As I do not want to repaint the sheetmetal to restore this M/C. I ride it. Sincerely, Merlin

Your bike is only original once. Keep it that way. The largest paint hit you can take on an unrestored machine is four points. However if you repaint it you lose six points.
