Newbie to judging (me) would like to know what the 6 point rule is? This came up on another thread, I didn't want to hijack. Thought my question belonged here instead.

Brian,
If the bike is judged as restored, all parts must be factory correct, including color. If the bike is judged as original the paint must be so also. Any deviation from this evokes the 6 point rule. Repainted parts on an original or wrong color on a restoration.

Original class for judging purposes then does that apply to all finishes, say if someone pulls engine and trans for rebuilding and cleans the cases - does that take a point hit? How about if the frame gets painted when/if the bike is torn down for rebuilding/refurbishing?
In my case if I get judged it will be considered a restoration, but interested in how the point systems work.
I really should get a copy of the rules book and read it, eh?Ray

It is kinda like this. If part of the motorcycle is restored then it all has to be restored. They let ya slide in the unrestored class if it has simply had the sheetmetal painted. Six point deduction assures that it will never win a Senior First.Be sure to visit;

Thanks Jeff!
Thanks Chris, I see how that works now.
I'll definitely be considered a restoration and will take some hits, but should be good to get the feedback.
Once it's done I'll post on the forum so you guys can pick it apart here firstRay
