I know a guy who substituted hard chrome for cadmium plating on his post war Chief. I have to say that the hard chrome was a pretty close match to the cad finish. The advantages would be durability, reasonable cost, and minimal surface preparation compared to reflective chrome. The down side would be masking critical bores and tapped holes. Also, if you don't like the finish or you ever need to remove the hard chrome, it's going to be murder to get it off.

        Cad plating in Germany

Hi Axel - If you still have some parts for cad plating you can send it to my address in Germany. I have a company near Frankfurt which does a very good cad plating. They charge me 90 € per hour for the plating if all prework is done. End of March I will send a batch of parts for cad plating.

        Give me a call at 06257 4645
