    Reproduction Muffler Guidelines/Help

    Judges,

I recently purchased a model year correct muffler for my stock '50 FL. Is a reproduction muffler a cause for point deduction? Since it's not restored, is it supposed to be a genuine HD part with HD part#'s?

I purchased the muffler through Dennis Corso because he states that his mufflers are used on most restored, AMCA judged motorcycles.

    Thank you in advance!

    Doug

Service items are allowed to be replaced with non original parts. What is a service item? Something that is routinely changed during the life of a machine. Plugs, chains, tires, light bulbs, wiring, rubber lines, seat covers, and rusted out exhaust would all be allowable to me.

      Thank Chris for your thoughts!

Would the replacement part need to be genuine Harley OEM/NOS or can it be a quality reproduction?

An excellent question Doug! Especially if one considers the difficulty finding original tins for '30's and '40's bikes.

Reproduction parts are allowed as long as it is the best reproduction available. In a few cases there are better mufflers available rather than those sold by V-Twin.
