After some disappointment with soda blasting, I finally found something it is good for. Does a great job of dulling brand new zinc plated hardware to give it a low luster finish more like cad.

Why not simply have your parts cadmuim plated?

Yes Chris i know, could be good
It`s just the double jeopardy senario of mail/platers misplacing my parts.

Maybe some suggestions as to good reliable US based cad-platers that would handle work from overseas might sway me.

I know the drill and have sent lots of parts to platers for cadmium, with good results. I also have a Caswell "Copy Cad" set-up. But , you always find yourself in a situation with just a few parts to do that won't even meet the minimum fee at the platers, or you don't want to go through the process of firing up the Copy Cad bath, purifying it, etc, for just a couple of parts. Soda blast give you another option.

I keep a 5 gallon bucket in the shop. Whenever I bring home a part that should be cad plated I toss it in. When the bucket is full I take it to the plater. I have been known to add some friends parts to the lot at times.
