  • Original paint gas tank photo - 1964 Sportster

Hi, I asked this question about a year ago and got a few useful photos but I wanted to give it another try as my painter is just about ready to go on my tank and fenders. I am restoring a 1964 XLH model sportster with the 4 gallon turtle tank. I am hoping that someone out there has an original paint gas tank that they would be willing to send a few photos of so that I can show them to my painter as a reference. I have a few photos from the owners manual and the Legend Begins book, but there is nothing like an original paint tank for getting it right. I recently found a person with a tank, but he wants me to pay him cash in exchange for the photos of it and that just rubbed me the wrong way. So I'm giving it another try.......anyone have photos?
    Thanks,

Chris, thanks for that photo....it is great. By any chance do you have any more photos of that bike? I'm assuming they are factory photos and they would be helpful with my resto.

            Jerry,
I'm having a bit of a tough time finding someone with an original paint '64 XLCH tank and was hoping that you might have found some sources for tank patterns since your last posting. Chris Haynes also sent me a very nice factory photo last year that is very helpful, but I would really like to speak with someone with an original paint XLCH tank for some measurements at key locations on the pattern to assist my painter in getting it exactly right.
            Thanks...
