  • 1967 Electra Glide Paint

Can someone point me in the right direction to find dimensions for an original 1967 Electra glide tank panel? I’m trying to figure out if mine is original paint or not. I’ve started sanding off a repaint on one of the tanks because I believed there was original paint underneath. But it’s looking maybe a little too nice. Thanks!

I can't help you with paint scheme dimensions but honestly, even if the dimensions you uncover are spot on, that alone won't prove if O.P or an old, well done repaint. Post some pics of what you uncover and someone here will probably have a good idea if O.P. or not. (Even then, it might come down to testing/measuring paint depth.)
Of course if the dimensions are way off...

That was kinda my plan. I’m not really sure if it’s a repaint or original. If the measurements were on then my next step will be to check paint thickness. I just don’t want to order the gage if my measurements are way off haha! I’ll post some pictures here in a bit.

Here’s my tank. The small piece sanded down to bare metal shows red primer underneath

Well... believe me I'm no expert but that does look like original '67 paint scheme to me. Hard to tell about the color by the pics. Red oxide primer beneath would seem to indicate OP as well. Nice!

It definitely resembles the 67 scheme. The 2 main things that have me wondering are the space between the point of the white panel to the back of the tank. And I don’t see a weld in the end of the tank, but there appears to be some bondo where i believe the welds would be. So I’m not real sure.
