OEM black boattail light

Has anyone removed black paint and chromed a boattail tail light? I have an original black paint (1942-1946), but would like a chrome tail light. This is for a 1941 knucklehead build,

That is a normal process. 90percent of the chrome parts on choppers and the like were originally painted.

Dear Rick, I'd put the original taillight on the '41 and proudly take the judging points hit. For a quarter point that's another original part gone.
