My mistake I thought it was the other way around. Prior to late 46was 4 hole and after that was 5 hole.

Every original 1940 I have seen has 5 hole saddlebags.

Rollo I had come up with this quote while doing my research. It also says that in the Palmer Guide....."According to research done by Michael Paquette (Worsham Castle) all '47 models through serial number 10050 were 5 hole and changed to 4 hole after that.

I need to locate and drill the saddle bag holes , side fender trim ,and front fender light in my fenders on my 40 knuckle project. Any help with a template or measurements would be appreciated. Thanks, Paddy
