  • Original Paint Indians

There has been a lot of discussions on primer colors on Harleys. What did Indian
use for primer or did they just tin dip the parts??

About a dozen plus years ago there was a porcelain base sign with removable original paint chips. Almost all of the colors were from original Indian paint cans, a few were matched to OP bikes or matched to paint from a can that did not have enough material. It covered 1946 -53 Indians. There was a article in the AMCA magazine on it. It states that all of the samples were painted over original Indian "ruddy brown". The signs were made by Steve Johnson and 125 at $225 each were produced. It is a great wall piece that has a practical side also. I may be off on a detail but should be close.
