What is the correct primer color?

I am redoing a 1945 FL and wanted to use the same color primer as the factory did in 1945. What is correct red oxide or grey primer?

I don't think the MOCO primed any of the sheet metal on bikes that left the factory. Apparently, the metal was parkerized prior to paint application. However, on primered parts shipped out on parts orders, they used a muddy red color. By the way, what color are you painting your bike?
